Description

I wanted something light, romantic and yes definitely happy. Bella Notte is the song from Lady and the Tramp and though it is Italian, it was the song that inspired me in this piece. Of course La Isla Bonita was my inspiration for the Senorita, I love Madonna. I wanted something really really simple yet very romantic.

I was inspired and challenged to make a piece with a monochromatic background, like Pascal Campion, he is one of the artists I idolize. I love how he makes these beautiful pieces, simple and uncomplicated.

I hope you like it.

Overall the mood is charming, the colours are well balanced and soothing. However, I think that in certain instances, we see crisp edges... in the figures and in some of the windows as well as the circular yellow bulbs in the top of the composition; then we see looser shapes for some of the windows.

I would offer that using one technique (loose or crisp) would lend a greater sense of overall balance. Perhaps crisp for all the primary elements and loose for the secondary elements?

The gentleman is standing a bit too close (or too far away) from the tree in the foreground, it creates a visual tangent when we see elements so close but not touching. Sometimes this can be effective, for example if the mans hand was just about to touch the woman's, it would lend an added degree of tension...

The leaves look a bit too digital, as if you used the brush tool with the leaves setting...

My favourite aspect of the image is the folds on the clothes, the subtle changes in the mans vest are great! The palette is also spot on. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";-)" title=";-) (Wink)"/>
